Illinois law states, “Children under the age of eight years must be secured in an appropriate child restraint system, more commonly calls a child safety seats.” An appropriate child restraint system can include a rear-facing infant only seat, a forward facing toddler seat, a booster seat, a convertible seat (rear facing for infant then converts to forward facing for toddler), a combination seat (toddler seat that converts into a booster seat), or a 3-in-1 seat (includes all three stages).
